Dr Cynthia Boaz, Professor of Political Science, published a new article in International Studies Perspectives titled "How Speculative Fiction Can Teach about Gender and Power in International Politics: A Pedagogical Overview".
The article discusses how to use science fiction and fantasy material such as novels, films, and shows to teach about both gender politics and international relations. It was inspired by a course Professor Boaz created for Sonoma State University called Gender and Geopolitics in Science Fiction and Fantasy. The key visual and written texts are "Game of Thrones", "Battlestar Galactica", "Star Trek", "Watchmen", "Jessica Jones", "Westworld", and "Misfits".
