At the recent Society for American Archaeology annual meeting in Chicago (March 30-April 3), Dr. Boutin undertook three roles. She presided over her last business meeting of the nearly 1000 member strong Bioarchaeology Interest Group, closing out a four year term as Co-Chair (with UC Berkeley professor Dr. Sabrina Agarwal; together they co-founded the interest group). The Bioarchaeology Interest Group was actively involved in the 2021 revision of SAA's Statement on the Treatment of Human Remains, and Dr. Boutin was one of four people invited to participate in a roundtable on next steps for the Statement (such as the development of new professional and ethical guidelines). Finally, Dr. Boutin presented a poster featuring research conducted by her along with two former students (C. Midori Longo and Victoria Calvin) called "How Should General Education Archaeology Curricula Respond to the COVID-19 Pandemic?"
