Social Justice Week

Sonoma State’s Social Justice week began on March 23, 2015. The goal of Social Justice Week is to provide a space for the Sonoma State student body and the community to contribute ideas, gain perspective, and understand current social issues. Traditionally, it comprises around 30-60 hours of lecture, discussions, films, presentations, panels, and activities from guest speakers, students, and faculty. This is a yearly event that covers a range of topics from Dr. Roxanne Dunbar Ortiz “Torture War Crimes, and the Indigenous Peoples’ Perspective on US History” (2015) to “Censorship and Fake News,” Mickey Huff, Project Censored (2017). Due to the pandemic, this year will be our first Virtual Social Justice Week, scheduled for  April 5-9. Our events will start at 2:30 pm and end at 8:00 pm. All of our sessions will be recorded and posted on our website for those that can't make that event. Please see the SSU Social Justice Week Schedule. Want to know what to expect from the different types of sessions? Check out the "What to Expect from Each Session" descriptions. As Social Justice Week approaches, you will also be able to find links to each day's events on the School of Social Sciences Events page.

We are looking forward to seeing you there!
