From the first time she heard about the Camino de Santiago, Psychology lecturer and author Suzanne Maggio knew she had to go. Although she wasn’t sure exactly what drove her to walk this ancient pilgrimage, she felt the need for a reset as she contemplated the beginning of her 60th year. Her new memoir Estrellas – Moments of Illumination Along El Camino de Santiago relates a journey that extends beyond the month of walking through France and Spain, one that brought her inward to see the vital values of her heart. In a handful of sparkling moments with the people she met along the way, the book challenges the reader to appreciate their own constellations of human connection.

Her debut memoir, The Cardinal Club, was a finalist in both the 2021 Next Generation Indie Book Awards and the 2020 IAN Book of the Year. Maggio won a 2016 silver award from the publisher Travelers Tales for a story titled “Yo Soy,” which touched on the search for identity during a stay in Nicaragua. Her work also has appeared in Sonoma Family Life.
