Hannah Brownlee was accepted into the Doctoral program of Psychology at the University of Delaware this past summer. The University had a 6 percent admission rate at the time of her admission.  Hannah graduated from Sonoma State University earlier this year. She worked closely with Dr. Teresa Nguyen, Assistant Professor of Psychology in the Sonoma Intimate Relations Lab. Their studies centered primarily on examining how the work hours of low-income, ethnically diverse couples impacted their relationship satisfaction and thoughts of marital dissolution. Through this endeavor, Hannah presented her research at both the Society for Personality and Social Psychology’s, as well as the Western Psychological Association’s annual conferences. Hannah also drafted and submitted a manuscript for undergraduate publication based on their findings. Concurrent with this independent project, Hannah was responsible for co-leading a team of junior research assistants in thematic coding, theoretical discussion, and empirical education.

Hannah is currently studying Clinical Science at the University of Delaware with Dr. Jean-Philippe Laurenceau. Their empirical research seeks to understand how early-stage breast cancer impacts relationship and health outcomes for both partners in an established intimate relationship. Hannah plans to integrate herself into the field of academia after she graduates. She hopes to teach at an undergraduate institution, where she can simultaneously conduct research and work closely with students interested in entering the field of psychology.  Congratulations Hannah!
