A Historian of Russia Confronts the War in Ukraine and His Own Complicity in Russian Imperialism

During this Brown Bag Lecture Bittner will speak about his travel to war-torn Ukraine in June and July of 2022, his research over the years in Kyiv, Odesa, Simferopol, and Yalta, and the way that the war has rearranged everything in his professional life, from the friendships he maintains to the types of historical research that are possible now and in the future.
