Supported by a Humanities for All Project Grant, the “Ashes from Ashes: Recovering Cremains from the Wreckage of California Wildfires” project aims to capture the stories and reflections of archaeologists, dog handlers, and affected families. In this blog post, Project Director Dana Shew, Anthropological Studies Center staff, tells California Humanities about her inspiration for the project and the process and people involved.
