The Women's and Gender Studies Department is honored to receive an SSU IRA grant for the Gender Studies Program Series 2021-2022.  For the past 12 years, Dr. Don Romesburg has successfully secured funding for the Gender Studies Program Series, which brings a compelling and diverse roster of feminist and queer artists, activists, and scholars from the greater Bay Area and beyond to share their expertise with SSU.  This year's grant will fund our Fall 2021 "Feminist Lecture Series" (WGS 201) and our Spring 2022 "Queer Studies Lecture Series" (WGS 202).  Combined, these lecture series bring 20 different speakers to our campus community over the academic year--all the lectures are free and open to the public in addition to being classes that student can take and earn credit.  Students report that attending the lecture series has been eye-opening to see clear and compelling examples of living feminist- and queer-engaged lives committed to justice, creativity, and transformation.
