Faculty Affairs

Faculty Affairs helps faculty from the moment of hire to resignation and retirement by working to solve faculty human resource issues.

  • The All Faculty page provides information on salary & working conditions, leaves of absence, volunteer appointments, sabbatical & difference-in pay leaves, among other resources. 
  • Temporary faculty can find information about range elevations, appointments, evaluations, and resignation & retirement.
  • Tenured & tenure-track faculty can find information about market increase requests, retirement programs, department chair appointments, and RTP 
  • If your department is hiring (either tenure-track or lecturer faculty), Faculty Affairs helps with recruitment, as well as new faculty training and support. The Prospective Faculty page is where you will find links to forms and resources related to faculty hiring.

Human Resources

SSU's Human Resources Department helps employ, develop, motivate, and retain a diverse and engaged workforce. Here you will find information on:

  • The Employee Assistance Program (EAP), which provides counseling to SSU employees and their families.
  • Employee Wellness Program, which aims to promote a culture of wellness amongst campus employees. Employee Wellness Program benefits include lunchtime fitness classes, a smoking cessation program, and an ergonomics program.
  • There are many Employee Discounts available to you as an SSU employee! They include discounts at the California Academy Sciences, the Monterey Bay Aquarium, Six Flags Discovery Kingdom, and Great America, as well as pet insurance and rental car benefits.
  • Another benefit available to you as a CSU employee is the Tuition Waiver Program. which entitles eligible CSU employees and eligible dependents to enroll in courses at any CSU campus and have fees waived or reduced. This page also includes a link to help determine eligibility for yourself or your dependent(s).
  • The Human Resources Department also provides a variety of services to the campus community, including those related to benefits, class/compensation administration, employee relations & compliance, payroll, Title IX compliance, grants/contracts, student employment, and training/development.

California Faculty Association (CFA)

California Faculty Association (CFA) labor union represents lecturers, professors, counselors, librarians, and coaches from all CSU campuses. 

  • Learn more about the California Faculty Association, including how to join, what your rights are as a faculty member, and how to get help if you have a problem at work.
  • The CFA Chapter at Sonoma State addresses concerns of the SSU CFA membership. On this page, you'll find the contact information for the SSU CFA Executive Board, meeting minutes, and general announcements pertinent to SSU faculty. 

The Children's School

The Children's School is a program of Sonoma State University Associated Students that provides high-quality early childhood education services to children of SSU students, staff, and faculty families.
