Academic Advising

The School of Social Sciences faculty encourages all of our majors to seek academic advising early and often. Quality academic advising is the key to your success as a student.

Lower-Division Social Science Majors

If you have completed 0-59 units and are a declared Social Science major (see list of majors), you should obtain your academic advising from Ryan Walsh in the Advising and Transfer Center. Derek is a professional advisor who can help with General Education and lower-division major requirement advising.

Upper-Division Social Science Majors

If you have completed 60 or more units and are a declared Social Science major, you should obtain your academic advising from a faculty advisor in your major department. Some departments assign academic advisors and others do not. Please click on the link for your major to be taken to the department's advising page where you can connect with an academic advisor.
