Subjective Well-being among Korean Older Adults: The Role of Living Arrangements

For this Brown Bag Lecture Dr. Soo-Yeon Yoon will discuss: While prior research provides insight into the importance of marriage on older adults’ well-being, it paid limited attention to the role of living arrangements, other than marriage, in shaping older adults’ well-being in Korea. In this talk, I will discuss the relationship between living arrangements and subjective well-being among older adults in South Korea. I pay attention to two aspects of subjective well-being (i.e., self-rated health and happiness) and how these are associated with living arrangements. I will conclude the talk by providing implications for maintaining family support or offering an alternative support network for those who live alone.
